I recently had the honor of photographing Alexis and Dylan’s maternity session, and it was an experience filled with intimacy, anticipation, and timeless beauty. We started the session at their home, a setting I absolutely love for its comfort and personal touch. Shooting in their own space helped Alexis and Dylan relax and get comfortable in front of the camera, allowing their genuine emotions to shine through.
Maternity shoots hold a special place in my heart because they capture a unique and fleeting moment in a couple’s life—the anticipation of welcoming a new family member. Even if you’re shy or nervous about being photographed, the focus on the emotions of the moment makes the experience truly special. It’s about capturing the joy, love, and excitement that come with awaiting the arrival of a little one.
After the cozy home session, we moved to Bell’s Bend in Middle Tennessee, one of my favorite locations. The lush greenery, abundant flowers, and stunning golden hour light created a perfect backdrop for our photos. In spring and summer, Bell’s Bend transforms into a vibrant oasis, and the golden hour light is especially magical, adding a warm, ethereal quality to the images.
Alexis wanted something intimate and timeless for her maternity photos, so I brought along my film camera. Shooting with film added an extra layer of authenticity and nostalgia to the session. We captured two beautiful rolls of film, each frame contributing to the timeless, intimate feeling we aimed to create.
The combination of their home setting and the natural beauty of Bell’s Bend provided the perfect canvas to document this special time in Alexis and Dylan’s lives. The resulting photos are a beautiful blend of personal, candid moments and breathtaking outdoor shots, all infused with the love and excitement they feel as they await their new arrival.
Thank you, Alexis and Dylan, for allowing me to be a part of this significant moment in your journey. Your warmth and love for each other were a joy to capture, and I hope these images will be cherished memories for years to come.
